Mama got a new bike!

It doesn't matter how old I get or how my priorities change.  Getting a new bike is still the. best. thing. ever.  I remember every bike I've owned and when I received it.  In 2009, my beloved purple Schwinn, the bike that carried me through college, was stolen in the middle of the night.   Since then, I've been riding the blue hand-me-down Motiv mountain bike.  Don't get me wrong, I was thankful to have something, but it never felt like mine and it wasn't great to ride.

Since we've moved back to Idaho, I've been itching to get a new bike.  The culture and weather here allow for a great bike-riding atmosphere.  I imagined I would save my pennies and find a comfortable, affordable, ride-able bike at Target or Walmart.

Today we came across this beauty at a garage sale.  The sweet lady had picked it out at a bike store and added all the bells and whistles: basket, reflectors, bell, mirror, etc..  She'd ridden it 3 or four times in the last few years and then her son decided that she was too old to ride it. :/  Her price was very reasonable, but it is a very nice, "real" bike (made by Specialized). So after some thought and discussion, we decided that I needed to have a good bike that I loved riding.  Woohoo!   The cute lady said that she was going to go have a good cry as I was riding away.  I really did feel bad for her.  You could tell that she loved it and it made me a little sad.

And then I rode around the neighborhood with a big cheesy grin on my face, feeling the wind in my hair, just enjoying my moment.

Your Average Mom

I tried to come up with a cute/clever/original name; something that describes my adorable family, and possibly including some alliteration with my last name.  But just decided that none of them sounded like me.  If you're looking to read about an average mom doing her best, you've come to the right place.

This blog may include the following: cute pictures of little girls, stories about our adventures in Idaho, happy/frustrating things about being a stay at home parent, things about my handsome husband, pictures displaying my home decorating skills, ballet recitals, proud parenting moments, posts about my fitness journey, crafts and other pinteresting things, opinions on random things that I care about.

I don't really mind if I'm the only one who reads this blog and it becomes a journal for my family's future, but anyone is welcome to follow along!
