You are growing up too fast! In 2 days you'll be 13 months old. It's hard to believe how much you've changed in the last year. I sometimes feel badly that our family has been through so much change this year, and worry that you may not have gotten as much attention as you could/should have. But you are thriving, learning and growing faster than I can believe. Just this week, you started climbing the chairs so you can sit on the table. We had to put the chairs up. I've started to put the gate up less and less to let you experiment with making your way down the stairs on your own. You surprise me often when you respond to my requests, such as "go find your milk" or "can you give that to your sister?" Today, you ventured into the splash pad in your clothes. I didn't even put a swimsuit on you because, up until this point, you were terrified of it. You were soaking wet, smiling big, with your face turned upward toward the sky. You dance when there's music. You throw tantrums! You give big hugs with back pats. You like to put little things in the pantry, then shut the door, as if you're trying to help me clean up. You comb your hair. Yesterday, I found you sitting at the small table in the play room, playing pretend with the plates, forks and spoons. You climb up the play structure, find the slide, and slide down on your own, grinning the whole way. You think Dad is home every time you hear a door open or shut somewhere in the house. I don't remember it going by this quickly with Everly. I love and adore you more than you could ever know, and can't wait to see you learn more and become who you are.
