We rolled in late Thursday night and stayed with Annette and Angie. We all really loved staying at their house and getting to know them better. My kids were spoiled and loved them. At the end of it all, Everly told daddy to leave her there with Mommy and that he can go back to work by himself. I wish I would have taken a few pictures of the kids with them.
Friday morning we woke up early and took the train to the SL temple. Everly LOVED the train ride. Probably her favorite part of the entire trip. I've always loved going to Temple Square, so it was fun to take Everly. She was excited to be in Salt Lake City and asked several times where the Salt Lake was. She concluded that the reflection pool at Temple Square must be the salt lake. We spent the morning with Annette, Jessica, Kenzie and Krew. Everly loves her cousins and it was so fun to watch Anneliese and Krew get to know each other. Vicki got matching outfits for all the girls, so that we pretty adorable. We ate lunch with family at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building restaurant. Then Cody and I and the kids explored the area for the rest of the day.
Saturday morning, we woke up early (once again) and drove to Midway for the Dirty Dash. The drive was through the mountains and beautiful. I did the race with Dakota and Jess and some of other Corbridge peeps; Shayna, Treg, Jen, Braden, Jolynn, and some other friends. Cody and Kris watched all 6 kids while we did the race. As you can imagine, it was a little rough. 2 adults with 3 double strollers is not great. But they survived and no one was injured, so we considered it a success. The race was really fun (and dirty) but honestly, a little difficult. Before the race, I "trained" a little to make sure I could run a 5k without stopping. I can run a 5k on even concrete, but that's not what this was. A lot of hills, altitude, obstacles and mud. It was a challenge, but I did the best I could and was proud of myself for finishing it. There was mud everywhere... everywhere. They let you hose yourself off in a cold shower with your clothes on, but it took me a half hour at home to get it all off. I would definitely do it again, but now I know what I'm preparing for and my goal is to be able to run the whole thing next time (and not run around any obstacles. :))
The next morning we had a super yummy breakfast with Dakota and Jess at The Original Pancake House in SLC. After that, we weren't quite ready to drive home, so we went to Scheels to wander and ride the Ferris wheel.
